The DOMINION public design overview was created in order to share some of the base features of DOMINION with the public. Nothing contained in this document is finalized; this information is only provided as a preliminary introduction to the currently designed world of DOMINION, and is subject to change.
About DOMINION & the design
In designing DOMINION, I wanted to take out the 'complication factor' that exists in many games in today's market. Many people know the previous games I've designed MORDOR, DEMISE, and HORIZONS. Each of those games was substantially more sophisticated than the other. It was my goal to define a simple and fun system with DOMINION, yet retain the extensive replayability that both hard-core gamers and the average gamer could jump into, enjoy, and build upon. The foundation of DOMINION is that of launching the player instantly into the game, allowing them to interact with the world in many different and enjoyable fashions, and then allowing them to build their characters, and experiences over time, as they desired. The game is designed so that the features that really extend the playability to an almost unlimited amount are slowly introduced to the players as they progress in the world.
